Dear Parents,
Another school year is beginning and with that, we would like to kick off a strong campaign for membership for the Kappa Sigma Parent's Club. For those of you that have never joined in the past, let me tell you a little about what this club is and does and why your participation is so very important. For our new parents from 2011 Fall Rush, WELCOME and we hope that you will seize this opportunity for service to the chapter as well.
The Kappa Sigma Parent's Club is an organization of parents that support Kappa Sigma over and above what the chapter and House Corp provide. These are "extras" that come along in the case of unbudgeted necessities from the other two organizations or just nice enhancements that parents feel would benefit our sons. For example, most recent projects were:
- New leather furniture in the main dining hall in the television viewing area…..sofas, chairs, end and coffee tables and lamps
- Two new washer / dryer sets in the upstairs of the residence wing
- Decorations at the Kappa Sigma re-installation banquet last December in which national officers were in attendance
- Shared in paint cost for mom's renovated suite and the activities room (summer 2011)
- Provide food and decorations for Food Night during formal Fall Rush
- Retirement gift to Ms. Jean Michaels at Homecoming 2011
As you can see, without money and support from the Parent's Club, these things would have been a little more difficult to do. Other projects are currently under consideration and your membership and input will put some of these things in place for the chapter. PLUS, we'll keep you current and tell you things that your son won't! HA! With your membership, we'll send you an email to tell you to check updated Parents Club tab for information, something that we have not been able to do before.
A little news... With the retirement of Ms. Jean Michaels after seventeen years, we have been blessed with the hiring of a new housemom.Her name is Ms. Rhae Nix. She is a happy, energetic, talented individual with a heart for and a dedication to young men and she is a real treasure. Ms. Nix will be moving into the Kappa Sig house the second week of August. On September 24, Louisiana Tech game day, the Parent's Club will have a "Sip and See" where you can swing by the house and meet her and have light refreshments. Our formal annual meeting will be held Homecoming, November 5.
The chapter website is back up and running and we are going to be adding a new tab right away under PARENTS CLUB. The website address is kappasigmamsu.org.
Please consider joining this very worthwhile effort from our parents for an annual fee of $100.
